‘Soldier of Misfortune’

I must agree with your editorial in every regard. Whether you believe in the policies of Soldier of Fortune magazine, or whether you believe that readers of such magazines should be isolated on a desert isle somewhere is not the issue. What is the issue is whether publishers and persons, organizations or corporations who advertise in any type of magazine or newspaper are granted their basic rights or freedom of the press and freedom of expression.

The publishers, lawyers and editors of every magazine and paper in the land should be standing up to be counted in this matter.

The fate of Soldier of Fortune magazine may or may not be already sealed due to its forthcoming legal problems and expenses. Its staff could lose the right to publish the magazine. We all could lose much more.

And I do not believe that only “crazies” read or advertise in that particular magazine. Many authoritative and respected military journalists pen some of Soldier of Fortune’s articles.

I read the magazine on occasion and do not consider myself crazy by any means.
