An assistant coach with the Phoenix Cardinals was arrested late Wednesday night for investigation of soliciting an act of prostitution, police said.

Leon McLaughlin, 62, was arrested on the misdemeanor charge about 11 p.m. by a female undercover vice officer. The arrest occurred at a motel in an area that is frequented by prostitutes and is often the target of undercover police activities.

McLaughlin, who has been an assistant with the Rams, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Green Bay and New England, joined the Cardinals in 1978. He was a player with the Rams in 1951-55.
