Countrywide Thrift & Loan announced that it gained approval of its application for federal deposit insurance from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. Countrywide Thrift, a wholly owned subsidiary of Countrywide Credit Industries Inc., will now be able to insure deposit accounts up to $100,000. Countrywide Thrift operates four branches in the Los Angeles area.
