‘Embarrassing’ Slap to Bistro Garden
It is absolutely ridiculous that the Beverly Hills-based Bistro Garden, one of this area’s most prestigious restaurants, might be denied a liquor license. Is the ABC aware that, for almost 40 years, the Tail O’ the Cock had a liquor license while occupying this very same site?
It is highly unlikely that drunk and disorderly conduct will become a serious problem, as liquor license opponents charge. The Bistro Garden draws a different type of customer than most other restaurants in this city.
This slap in the face to a well-known restaurateur who wants to give the Valley a new identity is an embarrassment to Valley residents. If this attitude to pressure the developer into making changes that result in a down-sized project, the alternative can only be a commercial center with chain stores and a fast-food drive-through, which will present a different set of problems for the neighborhood.
