American Health Services, a Newport Beach-based operator of outpatient diagnostic imaging centers, reported a loss for 1987 of nearly $5 million. The loss includes $2.6 million in research and development expenses. In 1986, American Health’s loss was $171,552. Revenues for 1987 rose 48%, to $5.7 million from $3.8 million.
