Two men were arrested and more than 100 pounds of marijuana were seized in a movie theater parking lot Wednesday evening, police said. Less than five hours later about 75 pounds more were discovered in a Chula Vista warehouse owned by one of the men, police said.

Clay Heitman, 34, of Danville, Calif., and Ricardo Nayra, 31, of Tijuana were arrested at the Cinedome Theatres parking lot in the 3000 block of West Chapman Avenue about 7:30 p.m., Police Sgt. Mike Pollok said.

He said a third man fled when an officer approached the men as they walked away from a 1986 Toyota. Pollok said the officer smelled marijuana and discovered five bales of it wrapped in plastic in the car trunk. The marijuana is worth at least $50,000, he said.

A card found on Heitman led to a search of his Security First Self-Storage unit in Chula Vista around midnight, Sgt. Arnold Botts of the Chula Vista Police Department said. About 75 pounds of marijuana, “some in plastic garbage bags, some in plastic,” filled half the 25-square-foot storage unit, he said.

The men were being held in County Jail after being booked on charges of selling marijuana, Pollok said. Bail for each was set at $200,000.
