Local News in Brief : Sepulveda Man Facing Trial in Sexual Assault
A 49-year-old Sepulveda man was ordered Thursday to stand trial on a charge of sexually assaulting a woman the day after he posted bail and was released in a case of attempted sexual assault.
San Fernando Municipal Judge Malcolm H. Mackey set bail at $1 million for Lawrence David Gremminger, who is being held in lieu of bail in County Jail.
Gremminger had posted $10,000 bail and was released the day after he was arrested March 18 on suspicion of attempting to sexually assault a 56-year-old Los Angeles woman.
The complaint against Gremminger alleges that, three hours after his release, he forced his way into the home of a Santa Clarita woman by pretending to need assistance for a broken-down motorcycle and sexually assaulted her. He was arrested near Santa Barbara after a high-speed chase.
Gremminger is scheduled to stand trial April 14 on charges stemming from both incidents: one count each of forcible oral copulation, attempted rape and residential burglary; three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, and two counts of assault with intent to commit rape.
