Dover Ferry Worker Strike Results in Delays Up to 12 Hrs.
More than 3,000 travelers, many embarking on their Easter vacations, were stuck today in a long line of buses, cars and trucks waiting to cross the English Channel at the strikebound port of Dover.
Vacationers bound for Calais, France, with ferry reservations faced delays of up to 12 hours, and truck drivers could wait even longer, said a Dover Harbor Board spokesman.
Port officials said 97 buses, 425 cars and 500 trucks were caught in the backup.
The ferry worker’s dispute has halted all of P and O European Ferries’ ships in Dover, but other vessels were operating out of the southeastern port.
Other ports also said they were busy handling some of the traffic from Dover.
