The Reagans’ Friends in Hollywood

Share

It is difficult to understand why Beaver is so impressed with the Reagans’ profundity for entertaining those of celebrity status. I would be much inclined to applaud their holding an open-house gala for a selection of the elderly, the homeless, AIDS victims and the poor of our country.

Maybe if all this frivolous entertaining of the rich and famous were held only at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and diplomatic affairs took place in the White House I could accept the entertainment for what it is. Meanwhile, I am opposed to the view given by the lady from Cypress and can do without the “style, grace and enthusiasm that our President and his lady” present at such lavish escapes from the world that surrounds them.

We are out here, Mr. President. Why not invite some of us to one of your dinner bashes? Just don’t let it be me. I have yet to read a listing of the courses served that suits my taste. They are like your policies in running our nation--too rich for my taste.

I am also a registered Democrat. I switched during your second term, but I doubt you noticed or care. You see, I am part of one of the above-mentioned groups that you seem unable to notice.
