Charles Barkley received money from agents while he was playing at Auburn but believes student athletes deserve payment because of what they earn for their colleges, the Philadelphia Daily News reported.

Barkley, the leading scorer and rebounder for the Philadelphia 76ers, said his current agent, Texas-based Lance Luchnick, was not among those who paid him.

He did not identify who paid him or how much.

He said he believed “all good college players were getting paid.”

“I think they should,” he added. “The colleges use these guys, and the guys get nothing in return.”

Barkley talked to the Daily News on Monday, a day after Newsday reported Luchnick paid high school and college coaches to influence future pro players in their choices of agents.
