Raiders to Open at Home; Rams at Green Bay

Share

For only the second time in their seven years in Los Angeles, the Raiders will have a National Football League season opener at home, playing the San Diego Chargers Sunday, Sept. 4 at the Coliseum, it was announced Tuesday.

In their only previous season home opener at the Coliseum, the Raiders beat the New York Jets, 31-0, on Sept. 2, 1985.

The Raiders are coming off a 5-10 season, their poorest since 1962. Tom Flores retired as the team’s coach last January. Mike Shanahan was hired as Flores’ successor on Feb. 29.
