Alive and Contributing to Descanso Gardens

We appreciated Doug Smith’s visit to Descanso Gardens and his article (March 31) about its history and the Descanso Gardens Guild Inc.
However, I would like to clarify that one of our most active and valued Guild members, Mrs. Georgie Van de Kamp, is not deceased. A comment made about her leaving us referred to her moving to central California. She is still very much involved with the Descanso Gardens Guild as a member of the the Board of Trustees and the Master Plan Committee. She will be honored in Atlanta, Ga., this month by the American Horticultural Society with its Meritorious Service Award. We are proud of her.
As you observed, the Descanso Gardens Guild members are enthusiastic and dedicated to promoting and preserving these wonderful gardens for public use.
