Plessey Semiconductors Corp. said it will relocate its 60-person U.S. headquarters from Irvine to Scotts Valley in Santa Cruz County in the next several months. Plessey Semiconductors Corp., the U.S operation of British-based Plessey Semiconductors Ltd., said the move is part of a consolidation of the company’s West Coast operations. The Irvine operation will be merged with Plessey’s computer chip manufacturing plant in Scotts Valley, which employs about 200 people. The Irvine employees work in product design, sales and marketing. Most of those employees will be offered the chance to transfer to Scotts Valley, said Carol Bardia, a public relations consultant to Plessey. Plessey plans to maintain a small sales office in Orange County. Plessey also announced that Graham Wallis has been named president of the U.S. operation. Wallis has been president of U.S. Ferranti Interdesign, a Scotts Valley-based division of Britain’s Ferranti Semiconductors Ltd., which Plessey bought last month.
