Desert Partners LP increased the number of USG Corp. shares it is seeking to acquire in its $2.18-billion hostile takeover attempt. Under terms of an amended tender offer, Desert Partners said it would pay $42 a share for 39 million USG shares, or 85% of the building materials company, up from the 21.5 million shares it initially sought for the same price. Remaining shares would be exchanged for securities and notes valued at $42 a share. With 51.8 million USG shares outstanding, the offer is valued at about $2.18 billion.
