97-Year Term for Gang Rape

A gang member today was sentenced to 97 years in prison for the gang rape of a woman whose hand, foot and breasts had to be amputated after a burning Christmas tree was thrown on her. “These crimes (demonstrate) a high degree of cruelty, viciousness and callousness,” Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Ron Coen said in imposing the maximum sentence on Alfred (Killer) Scott, 24.

Deputy Dist. Atty. Ralph Shapiro said Scott was “one of the defendants who set the victim on fire.” Scott was convicted of attempted murder, kidnaping, assault with a firearm, oral copulation and rape, and mayhem. He was the last of five defendants to be found guilty in the Jan. 9, 1986, attack on a 26-year-old mother of three in South Central Los Angeles. The woman was dragged into an alley off Hoover Street, attacked and then thrown into a trash dumpster. A burning Christmas tree was tossed on top of her.
