‘Family Viewing’

Canada, 1987, 86 minutes , 10 p.m. A truly original melange of comedy, mystery and technique meant to overwhelm and shock. The oddball story centers on a disintegrating family undermined by its inability to communicate emotionally or verbally. Film maker Atom Egoyan uses film and video to draw one into the drama, then casts us adrift in his clever, bitingly humorous maze. It’s ideal for adventurous roller-coaster riders.
