Police in Sao Paulo, Brazil, said Friday they are seeking singer and composer Nelson Ned, who allegedly shot and wounded his girlfriend last week, apparently after a lovers quarrel. According to police, Ned wounded live-in girlfriend Maria Aparecida Rodrigues, 32, in the chest, but she was reported by police to be “out of danger” after being hospitalized. Police want to question the singer to determine whether the shooting was accidental or premeditated, but Ned’s attorney said the performer was in Dallas. Ned could be sentenced to up one year in prison if the shooting was accidental and up to 20 years if it was attempted homicide. Ned, 40, famous for his romantic ballads, is popular among Latin American communities in Florida and New York.
