‘Hearts and Hands/Love and War’

U.S.A.-Iceland, 1987, 123 minutes , 5:30 p.m . The good news: “Hearts and Hands,” a social history of American women told through quilts, is relatively exciting, since they’re colorful. The bad: “Love and War,” about Icelandic women who married American serviceman and reminisce while we see Army archival footage with no connection to the interviews or narration. Finally, the Icelandic army wives decide their daughters shouldn’t marry foreign servicemen. Aaargh!
