Local News in Brief : Costa Mesa : OCC 40th Anniversary Marked at Art Gallery
An exhibit celebrating the 40th anniversary of Orange Coast College is on display through April 29 in the community college’s Art Gallery in the Art Center Building on campus, 2701 Fairview Road.
The gallery is open to the public, admission free, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Titled “Celebrating Four Decades of Excellence,” the exhibit features photographs, trophies, awards, catalogues and memorabilia highlighting Orange Coast’s 40-year history. The exhibit is divided into decades, with the 1940s and 1950s showing how the community college evolved from the grounds of the old Santa Ana Army Air Base.
The 1960s part of the exhibit shows the booming growth of the college, and the 1970s portion illustrates how Orange Coast College offered programs to keep pace with the rapidly changing needs of the county. The 1980s exhibit includes “a peek at the future,” a college spokesman said.
