Police Arrest 147 in Anti-Gang Effort

A 200-member police task force arrested 147 people in a weekend sweep aimed at street gangs in South Los Angeles, officials said. Seventy-three of those arrested were suspected gang members.
One Los Angeles man was killed Saturday in gang violence. James Conrad Voldseth, 28, of Sunland, was stabbed in the San Fernando Valley community of Pacoima by two gang members during a drug deal, police said.
In the latest sweep, officers patrolled from the Crenshaw district to Watts between 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 3 a.m. Sunday.
