Power Outage Hits Downtown
United Press International
A failure at a downtown power station early today left 12,000 customers in a 20-block area of the civic center in the dark for more than four hours.
Power was restored by 5:30 a.m., before thousands of workers reached the high-rise office buildings and other downtown businesses in the area affected--bordered on the north by 7th Street, on the south by Venice Boulevard and at the east and west by Hill Street and the Harbor Freeway. The cause of the failure at Distributing Station was under investigation.
