Man, 81, Killed in Drug Raid
An 81-year-old man who was hit by a shotgun blast during a police raid of an alleged “rock house” died today while surgeons at California Medical Center were trying to save his shattered left arm. L. C. Hadnott was shot Wednesday night when he pointed a shotgun at officers as they broke into a house on East 49th Street in South-Central Los Angeles, police said.
A woman in the house was arrested on suspicion of felony drug possession, police said. The house was one of three raided by SWAT officers as they investigated alleged drug trafficking by street gangs. Neither Hadnott nor the woman arrested in the house where he was shot was linked to street gangs, police said.
