‘Tata Mia’

Spain, 1986, 116 minutes, 10:15 p.m. Bunuel or Saura’s crazy Spain, goosed up fitfully but funnily by Jose Luis Borau: A lapsed nun (Carmen Maura) becomes the focus of attention or harassment from her fascist brother, a dotty neighbor, a wily writer and a lively dog. Maura and Imperio Argentina, as her nurse, glitter; otherwise the acting varies, the satire is obvious and Franco remains dead.
