A two-year veteran of the San Diego Police Department has been assigned to desk duty while internal-affairs officers investigate a shooting in Rancho Penasquitos, a police commander said.

Cmdr. Keith Enerson said Officer Arthur B. Tucker was assigned administrative duty at the northeastern station. Enerson would not elaborate on the investigation.

Tucker told police that, on the morning of April 13, he stopped a red Camaro on Carmel Mountain Road and Paseo Cardiel for having no license plates and that the driver fired two shots at him. Tucker, who was not hurt, said he dropped to the ground and fired four shots from his revolver as the car sped away on Paseo Cardiel.

Calls to Tucker at the northeastern station were referred to Enerson. An all-points bulletin for the Camaro has been called off.

The commander said that, to his knowledge, Tucker has not been involved in any similar incidents.
