Harbor City Development

Share

After reading William Freeman’s letter (South Bay section, April 17), the point might be missed by readers not aware of the current philosophy of developers in the Harbor area.

Developers don’t care about the people in the Wilmington-Harbor City area. They build to their own self-interest, and the residents of the developed area live with the problems brought about by that investment. A case in point are the Wilmington developers who sold their projects before they were completed or occupied.

We disagree with Mr. Freeman. A development 10 blocks away does affect the remaining community. Neighbors, near and far, suffer from overcrowded schools, lack of city services, congested streets, parking shortages and increased demands on the sewer system.

It is our opinion residents of both communities need to be their brother’s keeper. William Freeman’s ostrich complex will not only conquer, but divide and destroy a community’s unity .
