‘Macu’

Venezuela, 1987, 90 minutes , 10 p.m . As a pre-teen, the title character was forced into marriage with a local corrupt policeman. Now, years later, the difference in their ages and values has created an enormous rift in the relationship. The subject matter sustains an otherwise undistinguished and needlessly complex telling of this socio-political tale of Latin life and attitudes.--LEONARD KLADY
