The Rev. Fred Jordan, whose Skid Row mission in downtown Los Angeles feeds 1,000 people a day and who also was a pioneer television minister whose “Church in the Home” was first broadcast in 1951, has died.

Jordan was 78 and had been hospitalized at Foothill Presbyterian Hospital in Glendora since suffering a massive heart attack earlier this month. He died Sunday. His widow, Willie, said today she would continue to operate the mission.
