‘Magic Toy Shop’
England, 1986, 104 minutes , 7:45 p.m . Another ingeniously convoluted, sophisticated adult fairy tale by writer Angela Carter (“Company of Wolves”)--an orphan exiled from a rural paradise to the London domain of her evil toy maker uncle. But, despite Carter’s haunting script, director David Wheatley can’t always match the visual pyrotechnics to the daring concepts.
