I agree that water-conservation policies are needed in Los Angeles but I am most irritated by remarks made by “officials” who say those rules may stay in effect after 1991 to “remind residents that Los Angeles depends on a water source 250 miles away.”

Since when do we need a geography lesson from bureaucrats who threaten us with unending inconveniences because they feel it is important that we remember where our water comes from? We know where our water comes from--do they know where their paychecks come from?

May I suggest all those “officials” be reminded that they are supposed to help us, not alarm us, and that we certainly did not hire them to teach us inane and painful lessons about Mother Nature.
