Two Memphis State basketball players who admitted dealing with a sports agent were stripped of their eligibility by the National Collegiate Athletic Assn.
The NCAA’s eligibility committee rejected an appeal by the university to let Marvin Alexander, a junior, and Sylvester Gray, a sophomore, return to the Tigers.
“The committee ruled that these young men knew what they were doing and that the NCAA could not encourage or condone the violations of the principles of amateurism,” NCAA officer Janet Justus said.
