Local News in Brief : Foundation Formed for Saddleback College
Saddleback College has formed a new foundation to raise private funds for college programs and services.
Money raised by the Saddleback College Foundation will be used for things the community college cannot afford with its normal budget, officials said. Many other community colleges and school districts in Orange County already have such private fund-raising arms.
Charles L. Blek Jr., a Laguna Hills attorney, was elected president of the Saddleback College Foundation during the group’s inaugural meeting. Other officers are Shirley Carroll O’Connor, first vice president; Elaine Carter, second vice president; Robert C. Lay Jr., treasurer, and William Chisholm, secretary.
College personnel serving on the new foundation board include Constance Carroll, president, and Richard McCullough, president of the Academic Senate.
