Thomas “Magnum, P.I.” (aka Tom Selleck) bids “aloha” to his television audience Sunday night after eight years of sleuthing, romance and adventure in the Hawaiian islands.

Magnum, who rose from the dead last fall for an eighth season after having apparently been killed off at the end of his seventh, will take his final television bows along with his pals Higgins (John Hillerman), T.C. (Roger E. Mosley) and Rick (Larry Manetti) in a two-hour finale Sunday at 9 p.m. on CBS.

The network has been tight-lipped about the story line, reporting only that Magnum, while visiting his family in Virginia, is urgently called back to Hawaii for his last dose of “romance, suspense and danger.” A slew of guest stars from the last eight seasons will reprise their roles along the way as Magnum negotiates the perils of his ultimate TV escapade.

After Sunday’s first-run finale, “Magnum” will live on in daily syndicated reruns around the country (locally at 6 p.m. on KTLA Channel 5).
