Santa Barbara Defeats Hawaii in Volleyball
David Rottman had 25 kills in 51 attempts to lead UC Santa Barbara to a 15-12, 15-11, 13-15, 15-10 victory over Hawaii in the championship match of the NCAA Division I Western Regional volleyball tournament Saturday night at UC Irvine.
Santa Barbara also got 17 kills from Jose Gandara and 13 kills from Lee Nelson as it beat the Rainbows (24-6).
UC Santa Barbara’s victory means the Gauchos (27-10) will be considered for--but not guaranteed--a berth in the NCAA tournament at Fort Wayne, Ind., starting Friday.
