ART OF EAST L.A.

Share

“Born in East L.A.” illustrates the prejudice that exists toward artists of color in this sunshine Shangri-La of Los Angeles. As a young minority artist born and raised in Los Angeles, I truly admire the powerful works of Gronk, Valadez, Herron and the Texan, Trevino, because they are being true to their culture--thus, making their art relevant and universal.

These artists are indeed trailblazers, dedicated regardless of overall Anglo acceptance. Their artistic cohesiveness exemplifies the need for minority artists to unite and support their own art.
