Yamaha Music Corp. U.S.A., based in Buena Park, has won the Orange County Philharmonic Society’s fifth annual Golden Baton for contibutions to the county’s musical life. Educational programs and financial contributions to the Orange County Performing Arts Center were praised. Previous Baton winners have been Henry T. Segerstrom, Donald L. Bren, Floss Schumacher and Disneyland.

A $40,000 Toyota U.S.A. Foundation grant, the largest ever given to the Grove Theatre Co., will be used to underwrite this summer’s Grove Shakespeare Festival. The grant will be used for staging “The Comedy of Errors” and “King Lear.” (The annual festival in Garden Grove opens June 24 with “Richard II.”)
