A medical examiner has ruled an 8-week-old boy was smothered by one or more of his mother’s six cats, but the mother refuses to believe her pets were to blame.

The county medical examiner’s office blamed “asphyxia due to compression by house cats” for the April 24 death of Corely LeBlanc. Police seized the cats.

Jodi LeBlanc, 22, a former veterinarian’s assistant, said she was told her son died of crib death.
