A $1-million grant has been received by Yale University to create “The Bob Hope Comedy Fund” for staging yearly comedies. Lloyd Richards, artistic director of the Yale Repertory Theater and dean of the drama school, said the money will help ensure quality productions. “The rare and precious art of comedy will continue to be taught and learned every year in a production uniting our best students and the best professional writers,” said Richards. The grant from the All-American Collegiate Golf Foundation came as a surprise to Bob Hope when he heard about it in Los Angeles, Richards said.
