6 Arrested in Gang Slaying of 2

Five male gang members and a female associate were booked today on murder and related charges after a college student and a 12-year-old neighbor girl who were sitting in a car were killed, detectives said.

Latonjyia Stover, 18, and Jamee Finney, 12, were shot to death at 7:15 p.m. Monday while in a car at a stop sign minutes from their homes west of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Stover was a student at West Los Angeles College. Police said the killings occurred after a drug deal went sour and the suspects mistakenly believed Stover was one of the drug seller’s relatives. Gang violence has claimed at least 115 lives in Los Angeles County since the beginning of the year.
