Lady Carroll Bing must stay away from her husband, former New York Metropolitan Opera impresario Rudolf, for six hours a day so that he may receive medical care, a New York judge ruled Monday. Justice Carmen Citarick, after a three-day hearing, ruled that Lady Carroll Bing, 48, did not represent a threat to her 86-year-old husband, but imposed a strict timetable for their time together “to provide a safe, healthy and structured environment for both parties.” A guardian for Bing, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, had claimed that Lady Carroll was interfering with his medical treatment, keeping him out late at night and at times striking him. Under the ruling, Lady Carroll is to stay away from her husband for three two-hour periods each day.
