Local News in Brief : Westminster : Police Flush, Arrest a Burglary Suspect

Share

Alerted by a suspicious neighbor, police ran down and arrested a man suspected of breaking into a house in the 15900 block of Plumwood Avenue. Police alleged that the man may have committed at least four other burglaries in the city.

Westminster Officer Tom Broderson said a neighbor called police to report a man on a bicycle had been knocking on doors in the neighborhood and “asking strange questions.” This is a common tactic for daylight burglars, Broderson said. “They go door-to-door and knock, and when nobody’s home they go around back and break in.”

Investigators patrolling the neighborhood spotted a bicycle beside a house, saw a rear window smashed and found the suspect inside, Broderson said. They chased the suspect across several back yards before making the arrest.
