Authorities have arrested a suspect in the stabbing death of a 31-year-old woman, San Diego police said Friday.
Spokesman Dave Cohen said Jose Bazaldua, 25, was taken into custody after witnesses told police they saw Linda Elizabeth Perez fighting with him Thursday in an alley in the 3500 block of Acacia Street. Perez's partly clad body was found in the alley shortly after 5 p.m. Police said she had suffered puncture wounds in the head.
Cohen said that, besides statements by witnesses, investigators found physical evidence linking Bazaldua to the crime scene. Details about that evidence were unavailable.
Bazaldua was arrested Thursday night. He was charged with murder and was being held without bail at County Jail downtown.
Perez's address was not known.
