Boy, 13, Captures Top Math Honors

WASHINGTON —
Andrew Shultz, a 13-year-old Evanston, Ill., math whiz, shut out the competition in the final rounds Friday and walked off with the title of the country’s top grade-school “mathlete.”
Shultz did not even bother to use paper and pencil, but computed most of the final answers in his head during the competition called Mathcounts.
