Gao Min and Li Qing of China finished one-two in the women’s three-meter springboard and countryman Tan Liangde edged Greg Louganis to win the men’s event at the McDonald’s International diving meet at Boca Raton, Fla.

Tan, 23, who won the silver medal at the 1984 Olympics, needed a near-perfect effort on his 11th and final dive to win. He scored 8 1/2s and 9s with an inward three-and-a-half somersault, tuck position, and took the gold with 712.29 points to Louganis’ 696.42.

Gao, 17, easily won the women’s competition with a total of 600.15. Li, 16, edged Megan Neyer of Boca Raton for second place, 545.40-545.19.
