The Burt Sugarman-controlled Giant Group Ltd., a Beverly Hills holding company that is bidding to buy Media General, said it is negotiating to sell its cement manufacturing and resource recovery subsidiaries for about $110 million in cash plus stock warrants. The prospective buyer is Environmental Treatment & Technologies, an environmental services firm. Giant Group and affiliated Barris Industries, plus Sugarman, a movie and television game show producer, have invested about $100 million in a 10% stock interest in Media General.
