Local News in Brief : Leak Caused Refinery Fire
A refinery fire that lit up the night sky in Wilmington has been attributed to a hydrogen leak. Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells said the fire at the Texaco refinery began about 8:45 p.m. Sunday when hydrogen leaked from an outside line and the gas ignited.
Nobody was injured, and no structures caught fire. The blaze was doused in about 90 minutes, after 10 fire companies responded to the call.
