James Brown was released from an Aiken County, S.C., jail Thursday after yet another run-in with the law sparked by a fight with his wife. Charges of assault, resisting arrest and possession of PCP and unlawful weapons were filed against Brown, who has been arrested twice in the last six weeks. Brown was released from the jail after posting a $24,218 bond, and is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on charges filed in all three arrests on June 6. Last month, Brown was arrested for allegedly shooting at his wife and beating her with an iron pipe. He denied those charges, saying his wife was angry because he wouldn’t let her go on his tour of South America. This time, Brown says his wife was upset because he wouldn’t permit her to accompany him to Europe. According to Aiken County police, Brown fled from his Beech Island, S.C., home Wednesday and led officers on a high-speed chase. After he was stopped, police said, the arresting officers found a .32-caliber revolver on the front seat of Brown’s car. And when he was brought to the Aiken County Detention Center, a small amount of material found on him tested out to be PCP.
