Wendy Modic of San Diego State has been invited to compete in the NCAA golf championship, starting Wednesday at New Mexico State. Modic, a junior from Chula Vista, joins a field of 102 participants, including 17 teams and 18 individuals.
MEN’S TENNIS
Hunter Galloway of UC San Diego lost in the second round of the NCAA Division III championships to Robert Haley of host Washington and Lee, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2, in Lexington, Va. Sig Huber of UCSD lost to Dave Jussila of Gustavus Adolphus, 6-3, 5-7, 7-6 (7-5), in a first-round match.
Galloway defeated Steve Ozcomert of Kenyon College, 7-6 (7-2), 6-3, in the first round.
