Hockey and Kings Deserve to Be Treated With a Little Respect

Share

I have a suggestion for the National Hockey League which I think will sell out every game and pour more and more millions of dollars into the NHL’s coffers (that is the primary interest here, isn’t it?). Change the name of the league to the National Brawling League and get rid of the puck so that we can dispense with the myth that the business of the league is hockey. The players can then spend three periods skating around the ice with their sticks, committing felony assault, battery, and mayhem to their, and their fans’, hearts’ content.

In the meantime, we hockey fans will have to content ourselves with waiting for the next Winter Olympics, where hockey players somehow actually manage to play hockey.
