I was deeply touched by your story on the efforts of the two young men.
With the reality of the lack of hope held by many of those within the housing projects of this and other cities, it is with honor and courage that these two dedicated men face great odds as they do what social programs with grand aims fail to do in large measure--namely to give love and a sense of purpose to their young brothers and sisters.
They may never enjoy the material wealth so valued by the world, but the wealth of respect and admiration they have earned will make them rich men indeed. As the spark of hope and personal achievement is ignited in these young children, the legacy of “Mister Fred” and Mister Jim” will live on to benefit us all.
Pointing fingers at neglectful parents won’t bring about change. Debating on the failures of social programs past and present won’t bring about change.
Using the greatest gift of all--love--will bring about changes in lives.
