Reggae musician Patrick Alley, who unsuccessfully sued Mick Jagger last month for copyright infringement, has filed notice he will appeal the verdict. Alley’s attorney filed a notice of appeal in U.S. District Court in White Plains, N.Y., on Tuesday because, he said, he had found new evidence that Jagger could have heard Alley’s song. The attorney would not elaborate. Alley, 36, of the Bronx, claimed the chorus of Jagger’s 1985 hit “Just Another Night” had been stolen from his 1979 song of the same title. Jagger testified that he had never heard Alley’s song.
